Volga-Dnepr Airlines delivered a 35-ton rotor to a thermal electric power plant in Accra, Ghana, for KOG Transport, an international project freight forwarder.
The 8-meter long rotor needed to be delivered urgently from East Midlands in the U.K. to Ghana, according to a company statement. Volga-Dnepr designed and manufactured an ultra-light cradle to load the rotor into the cargo cabin of one of its Ilyushin IL-76TD-90VD freighters.
KOG also used the air cargo company’s services to deliver the cargo to the airport, terminal handling, security clearance, and the supply of loading and unloading equipment.
The cargo was delivered to the Takoradi Power Station at Aboadze, approximately 17 kilometers east of Sekondi-Takoradi.
