Massive Rudder Flown to Dubai

Breakbulk Online - News Story

Air Charter International has transported a 37-tonne rudder part from Korea to Dubai.

The part was made by Korean steel manufacturer Taewoong and measured 9.16 meters in length. It will be used for the repair of a ship stationed at the Dubai Dry Docks.

Air Charter worked with Emirates Sky Cargo, Dnata and Atlas Air, according to Claire Brugirard, commercial manager at the Dubai-based charter company, in a statement.

Two cranes capable of lifting 50 tonnes were stationed at both the Inchon airport in Korea and the Dubai airport in the United Arab Emirates to load and unload the heavy piece through the nose of a Boeing 747.
