Chinese Rotor Flown to Saudi Arabia

Breakbulk Online - News Story

Saudi Airlines Cargo transported a 73-tonne generator rotor from China to Saudi Arabia for Rabigh Electricity Company. The rotor is the final part to complete a US$2.5 billion power plant.

Manufactured by DEC China, a consortium member of the EPC contractor headed by China's Sepco III contracted Saudi Airlines Cargo to provide the outsized cargo lift to move this urgent piece, according to a company statement. The rotor was carried on an Antonov AN124-100 aircraft under contract from Volga-Dnepr to Saudia Cargo.

The Ras al-Zour 1,200-megawatt power plant is located on the Gulf coast and is expected to be completed in early 2014.
