Canine Cargoes Fly to Houston

Breakbulk Online - News Story

Dubai-based Move One has completed the transportation of Military Working Dogs from Iraq to Houston, Texas. The canine cargoes weighed almost two tons.

The 31 MWDs had been deployed in a variety of roles from providing security to the American Embassy to guarding front-line base camps, as well as invaluable work as Improvised Explosive Device sniffer dogs.

The transportation was completed in three separate stages. On the first day, the animals were picked up from the Green Zone in Baghdad and driven to Erbil, using two air-conditioned vehicles. On the second day, the dogs were flown from Erbil to Dubai. Over the next three days, the dogs were separated into three shipments and flown to Houston.

Move One used four of its animal experts from the Iraq Office, two from Dubai and an additional four caretakers and six handlers.
