Maritime services firm Wilhelmsen Ship Management said it will relocate its global headquarters from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Singapore.

The move is expected to complete during the first quarter of 2018 and is designed to "accelerate growth" for the group and capitalize on Singapore’s position as an established maritime hub.

“Relocating our global headquarters to Singapore enables us to position ourselves in the center of an ecosystem that shares our ambition for growth and digitization,” said Carl Schou, WSM president.

WSM is a subsidiary of Norwegian maritime industry group Wilh. Wilhelmsen Holding. Headquartered in Lysaker, Norway, the group employs about 17,600 people and is a member of the Project Cargo Network.
