Practice 'a Holistic Approach Principle' BBME Speaker Says
Breakbulk and project cargo companies have been “conned” by the concept of sustainable growth, an audience at Breakbulk Middle East in Dubai were told.
The group CEO of Gulf Navigation Holding PJSC, His Excellency Khamis Juma Buamim said there is no such thing as sustainable growth; there is only transformation.
Buamim, who is also managing director and a board member at Gulf Navigation Holding, added that practicing “a holistic approach principle” is “critical” and that good management is required.
At the event, Buamim claimed that people have been “cheated” in thinking that a global economy and global trade existed, and that technology and social media have suddenly turned into the world economy’s “masters.”
“Shame on us that we have allowed such phenomena to take over,” he said.
The chief executive described the current picture as “gloomy,” adding that no creativity or innovation exists and that “everyone’s doing the same thing as 60 years ago.”
He urged the sector to catch up with change or risk becoming the “slaves of machines.”
