Mammoet Places Signature Bridge Sections

(Americas) Transport Over State Highway 114

Heavy-lift firm Mammoet has completed placement of four precast box-girder bridge sections for the Signature Bridge project in Irving, Texas.

The breakbulk units each weighed around 720 tonnes and were transported on site using SPMTs. To speed construction time, Mammoet oversaw digging wrok to create trenches under each 37-meter section, allowing lifting using a gantry system.

“The route from construction site to final setting location provided some challenges for the team, including steep grades and tight spaces to negotiate. Thorough coordination with Webber LLC and careful engineering ensured that the team was able to successfully set all four bridge units in the allotted traffic outage period,” a spokesperson for Mammoet said.

Headquartered in Schiedam in the Netherlands, Mammoet provides a range of services from transportation and logistics planning to heavy lift and crane rental.
