ESTA Campaign Receives European Support

Dutch MEP Backs Transport Corridor Campaign

The European association of abnormal road transport and mobile cranes, or ESTA, has received written support at the European Commission from Dutch MEP Caroline Nagtegaal, for its campaign to develop heavy transport corridors across Europe.

Nagtegaal has lobbied the commission’s transport directorate to include the needs of breakbulk operators in talks underway in Brussels on the financing of key infrastructure networks from 2021 to 2027.

“I am optimistic that my and ESTA’s concerns will be taken seriously and acted upon because it fits into the EU’s Connecting Europe strategy … Also, the economy of Europe has been strengthening and that means that there is more transport of all kinds and more exceptional transport,” Nagtegaal said.

The Dutch MEP has also pushed ESTA’s agenda to focus on “the digitization of permits” across Europe for breakbulk and project cargo transport.
