AAL, Ships Felixstowe RTGs

Four Gantry Cranes Delivered from Shanghai

Project cargo specialist AAL has delivered a cargo of four rubber-tired gantry cranes from China to the Port of Felixstowe in the UK.

The breakbulk RTGs were loaded in Shanghai and shipped aboard the mega-size multipurpose vessel AAL Kobe. Each item weighed just under 200 tonnes and measured 32 meters in length.

“We are delighted to be back in the UK and calling for the first time in Felixstowe with such an impressive project cargo. Although the UK is a significant container shipping market it is not immediately associated with project heavy lift cargo,” said Christophe Grammare, AAL’s commercial director.

AAL is a member of Cypriot investment group Schoeller Holdings and operates a specialist multipurpose fleet with heavy-lift capabilities of up to 700 tonnes.
